The Importance of The Client Consultation!

It's wonderful to lash new clients and it's wonderful to put lashes on regular clients for the first time.... But, we need to make sure we are taking the time and effort to go through a great client consult first.

Always ensure you are asking your clients what they expect from the treatment so that you can discuss their expectations before you put lashes on them. If they are after kim kardashian look and they have minimal natural lashes, it might be wise to discuss this with them first, so that they are not disappointed with the results.

A good time to really get to know what your clients lifestyle is like, is when you are chatting with them in the consultation. They might offer information such as sports they play, how often they go to the beach, what they do in their spare time, if they wear glasses etc. This is your chance to educate your clients on lash care and what to expect from their lashes if they are an outgoing person who is very active.

Again it all comes back to education and keeping your clients informed. Most clients will want to do the right things to look after their lashes, as they want them to last as long as possible. On the other hand some clients may disregard the instructions given and during your consultation you have the opportunity to take down notes to refer back to when troubleshooting. A regular beach goer may loose lashes faster due to application of sunscreen, if she told you about this in your consultation then you have the notes to remind her that her lashes may not last the normal length of time due to this.

Remember, when trouble shooting go through the list from top to bottom, both things you and the client could have done incorrectly or forgotten to do.

• Remove all traces of make up with a non oily make up remover 
• Cleanse and prep lashes
• Make sure you shake your glue for at least 1 minute
• Ensure the client does not get lashes wet for at least 24 hours
• Make sure your clients use oil free make up removers
• If a client often goes to the beach or wears oily products on her face, advise her to wash thoroughly  and educate her and the time frames she should expect out of her lashes.

Glue Clogging Up???

Sometimes we have customers that admit they are a little messy with their glues... They say that they are getting clogged bottles and lots of mess around the tip.


The best  way to avoid this problem, is to turn the entire bottle upside down when you squeeze out the glue. This prevents the glue running down the neck of the bottle and causing it to dry up at the opening. The lid must be placed back on immediately.


Another good tip is to use a new drop of glue for each client - remember you should always have the clients best interests at heart - and that means clean and disposable where ever possible!

Cleaning Eyelash Extensions

To all the clients out there who wear mascara on their ELE... you must know how to clean your lashes in order to prevent infections and to assist with general ELE hygiene. 

A great way to care for your natural lashes as well as your ELE is to wash them in a warm water solution of baby shampoo and water mix. Another great idea is to purchase one of our Foamy Bottles to put the water and shampoo mix in so that it foams up perfectly where ever you are.

Take you Foamy Bottle and mix:

1 part baby shampoo (no tears)

3 parts Water 

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

Wash your ELE's daily with upward strokes letting the foamy soap clean between your lashes and getting rid of any buildup. Rinse well with warm water. When drying your eyes make sure you are not too rough with the ELE's and do not use any materials that will get caught in your ELE's such as cotton pads or furry cotton buds. You are best to use a towel that has no loose threads and gently pat your eyes dry ensuring nothing gets caught on the lashes. 

If your lashes are tangled or crossed over, use the Spoolie given to you at your appointment to gently brush them straight and put them in place. In between fills if you feel that they are crossing over, you can  purchase a longer life coating to use on the lashes to keep them in place. 

If you find that you still need to use mascara ensure that it is a water based mascara and that you are removing all traces of make up each time it is worn. This also aides in preventing infections and extends the longevity of the ELE's.
